Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a common endocrine and metabolic disease. With the development of economy, acceleration of population aging process and changes of lifestyle, prevalence of diabetes in China has showing a rapid upward trend. So there is no time to delay on prophylaxis and treatment of DM. Insulin resistance (IR), the pathogenetic basis of DM, means a situation that the biological effects brought by the normal dose of insulin are lower than what it should be. It also plays a very important role in those diseases such as Obesity, Hypertension, High cholesterol, Coronary Heart Disease and Stroke. Recently Diabetes, Hypertension, Hyperlipidemia, Coronary Heart Disease and Stroke associated with IR have been named Death Quintet by medicine and become the leading killer that threat to human health and safety in 21 century.
